If you are looking for thread vein removal near Buckden, the clinic is in Upper Cambourne, roughly 19 minutes away. Each vessel is treated individually by Shannon Dry Aesthetics, and you can read more about how advanced electrolysis treats thread veins before you book.
Small, well-defined veins often clear in one to three sessions. Wider spreads are worked across a course with gaps in between, so no one area of skin is overworked.

How thread vein removal works
A sterile probe roughly the thickness of a hair is rested on the skin directly over the vessel, and a very brief pulse of heat is delivered through the tip. That seals the section of capillary from the inside, blood stops flowing through it, and it collapses.
Over the following weeks the body breaks the treated vessel down and absorbs it. That is why the result appears in the fortnight or so after a session rather than on the day, and why the skin is given a healing window between appointments.
Who it is for
Thread veins are dilated capillaries sitting near the surface of the skin. They are harmless, they are extremely common, and they do not clear up on their own. Sun exposure, genetics, rosacea, pregnancy and simply getting older all contribute.
Red veins on the cheeks and nose
The most common case. Fine, well-defined vessels that have been there for years and that makeup only partly hides.
Spider naevi
A central red point with fine legs radiating out from it. These often respond quickly, sometimes in a single session.
Blood spots and chest veins
Small raised red dots on the trunk, and the fine vessels that sun exposure leaves across the upper chest. Both are treated the same way.
What it costs
| Session | Price |
|---|---|
| Consultation and patch test | Confirmed when you book |
| Short session, a few isolated veins | Priced by session length |
| Longer session, a wider area | Priced by session length |
| Your price | Given in writing at the consultation |
Your first appointment
The first visit is a consultation and a patch test rather than a treatment, and nobody is treated on a first appointment. The veins are looked at under magnification, you go through your medical history and anything relevant such as rosacea, medication or recent sun exposure, and a small test area is treated so we can see how your skin settles. You come back with the plan and the price already agreed.
Questions
Do people really travel from Buckden?
Yes. It is roughly 8.0 miles – east on the B661, then the A428, then follow signs for Cambourne, then Upper Cambourne. Most clients are here in about 19 minutes. Times and distances are approximate.
How is the drive from Buckden at rush hour?
The A428 westbound is the busy direction in the evening. Coming east towards the clinic is generally the clearer run, and morning appointments tend to be easiest.
Does it hurt?
It is a series of very short, sharp pricks of heat rather than a continuous sensation, and each one lasts a fraction of a second. Most people find it easily tolerable. Around the nostrils is the most sensitive spot.
Will the veins come back?
A vessel that has been sealed properly is gone and does not reopen. New thread veins can form over the years for the same reasons the first ones did, which is why occasional top-up sessions are normal.
How long does the skin take to settle?
Tiny crusts form for a few days and lift on their own by around day seven to ten. Leaving them alone is the important part – picking them off early is what leaves a mark.
Are leg veins treated the same way?
No. Leg thread veins are often fed by a larger vein underneath, so they are assessed separately and, where it is warranted, you will be pointed towards sclerotherapy or a vascular opinion rather than sold a course here.
